| Quartz is a 7.5 on the mohs scale of hardness while rutile is a 6 on the mohs scale of hardness. Because of the differences in hardness with quartz and rutile, these tumbled or polished stones are often pitted and not completely smooth. They are still beautiful stones that look like they have golden hairs in the middle of them! |
